the news in brief.

dnd held on the 21st… had a good time… for 48 bucks i got:
a 3 course dinner.
entertainment.
a rattle.
a tiny bottle of perfume.
a box fan. (lucky draw prize)

paid 15 bucks for one of those souvenir photos in an igor’s folder.

drank last night with tianyun, sebas, jared, gavin and wenwei.
slept at 7.30.. all of us crammed into the same room, knocked out on the bed, the floor, half-on-half-off the bed, etc.

cycled home from school. don’t ask why.. was bored. sis gave me weird stare as i left. took about 1 hour and 20 minutes, including a 5 minute stopover at some commonwealth kopitiam for a drink.

Track 99

“Go ahead and build a better Messiah.
We can dig another grave…”

This… This… This… This is your ca…
This is your calling.

If you are hearing this, there is nothing I can do.
Something has grown in my chest and I have seen it,
it is hard and cold.

It’s been dormant for many years.
I’m only trying to save you…
But I did not come to save you for this is what you deserve,
This is what we deserve.
This is something we have brought upon ourselves.
We are not a victim, you are not a victim.
We are not a victim, you are not a victim.
God will grovel before me.
God will crawl at my feet.
These are the dying years.
These are the dying years.

When you are suffering, know that I have betrayed you.”

burp.

just back from the pagaent preview. nice… better than last year at least. there was dancing this year. and the boom boom room show.

had two beers, one free tequila something, 2 tequila pops and one and a half whiskey gins. also forked out for two jugs of housepours… together with patsy, schnieder and sebastian.

had supper at 179 with huijun and tianyun. met albert, sean, ashley, ryan and flin there.

quite high now… must… go… sleep.

hmm.. coincidence?

just minutes ago i opened my door and entered my room, only to find a black moth flitting around near the ceiling. that it was in my room was strange enough, as my mosquito netting was undamaged, my door was closed, and it sure as hell wasn’t here before i left. tried to chase it out, but it stubbornly refused to leave, even when i switched all the lights in the room off. it would take flight, only to land again on the venetian blinds directly opposite my computer.

suddenly remembered that it was the 15th day of the 7th lunar month. also recalled someone telling me spirits and whatnot took the form of these insects to come back to pay the living a visit. somewhat amused, i decided to let it stay. i closed the door and started icq-ing away.. all the while aware of that thing supposedly watching me from behind.

less than 5 minutes later, i turned around, to find it had vanished without a trace.

mosquito net unbreached, door closed.

i am withering

can anyone give me a general solution in terms of n for the number of times s++ is executed in the pseudocode fragment below?!

<ft>void loop(int n)
for m = 1 to n
for k = 1 to m
for j = 1 to k
for i = 1 to j
s++;</ft>

kids, this is NOT the way to spend saturday nights. especially at 4am.

stupid assignment.

IBG Scrabble

held last night. i umped a table with three viets who couldn’t speak proper english. WHY anyone who has trouble spelling ‘egg’ (EEG) would want to come down to participate in a scrabble competition is way beyond me. when i explained the rules in english i was greeted with blank stares… until ONE of them MADE CONTACT, and thereafter translated the rules into fluent viet.

also, there was this indian scholar who partnered one of the viets, and spent a good portion of the game sharp-tongueing his partner for wasting time and for putting down meaningless words. (IRONY 101: some of the nonsensical words, while appearing to be gross misspellings and NOT a part of the common english vocabulary, were actually good (i was the umpire with the dictionary, remember?) but the indian would scream “NO! NO! that doesn’t make sense!” and force his partner to take it back. oh well.. who was i to comment? the ump must keep all opinions to himself…) when the indian at a point in time put down QUE for 30 points and was challenged, i made a big show of consulting the dictionary before shaking my head. hoo-ha followed. “what?? are you sure QUE doesn’t exist? it doesn’t? could you check again please?? you sure?!”

see that puddle on the floor? that’s blood, it is. mine. and there’s more where that came from.

someone get me a bucket.. i need to throw up again.

bike rally

back from bike rally…. very very sleepy….
120+ bikes… from boon lay to the esplanade and back. stopped over at fong seng’s and various scenic sites on the way..

sigh.. need to sleep… till later.

lala

just went for a logical reasoning test conducted by the ACM-ICPC as an initial selection for their team. i had, obviously no intention of joining… though the test intrigued me, so i showed up. one of the questions included a block of monoalphabetic substituted ciphertext labeled, “which book is this from?”

wtf… anyway it included the year 1623 in plaintext, so it couldn’t have been robinson crusoe, gulliver’s travels or hamlet.

sigh… bike rally tonight. am bored now.

downloaded Whole Again. don’t find many songs that catchy nowadays. heard it in joanne’s room that night while attempting to catch a cockroach. now looping endlessly in winamp.
