I wanna watch Snakes on a Plane

What started off as a chance revelation that Samuel L. Jackson was due to star in a movie called “Snakes on a Plane” has grown into a full-blown Internet meme of sorts. In its infancy, I always thought it was some kind of working title, and that no studio would be stupid enough to spend money on a production only to title it “Snakes on a Plane”, but it seems I was wrong…

From the article:

Jackson publicly endorsed the move. “That’s the only reason I took the job: I read the title,” Jackson told entertainment site http://www.Collider.com. He added, “You either want to see that, or you don’t.”

Damn right you are, Mr Jackson.

The most awesome photo you will see all week.

Maya + Mental Ray

The final render.
Relaxxxx….

Just finished my little week-long project in Mental Ray GI. Not too polished, I know, but heck, I’m not gunning for an industry-worthy scene… not especially as I get projects like these almost every week.

Things that could use more work:

  • Windows could use some glass… hahaha.
  • Windowsill needs some tracks for the windows to slide on
  • Window frames need latches
  • Door needs a doorknob (out-of-frame, didn’t bother to finish)
  • Display cabinet needs a texture (out-of-frame)
  • Pictureframe needs a picture (again, out-of-frame)
  • Carpet needs a little thickness and sheen. Currently it’s a 2D surface with a lambert shader and a noise bumpmap. Fur would be nice =)
  • Pillows need to be smoothed down more. (Sub-D surfaces. They’re clones of each other, just tweaked to look different
  • Sofa mesh needs stitching
  • Lampshade needs more definition
  • Lamp needs a power cable
  • Side table is ugly

Some other time, eh? Meanwhile, here are other test renders:

Base rape chronicles

Ever so often, when you’re lucky enough to be assigned to a team with all the good players (God knows I despise people who purposely switch), base rape can be fun! Went for a little suntan at the beach the other day, and took some amazing photos:

Round 1, and the US team got cornered on the Essex. Note the advancement of the 4 amphibious APCs, and the 2 jets circling the deck. I am in the APC on shore with the view cone. This was shortly before I plunged into the water to join in the party.

Round 2 and the same thing happened again. God, I love that team. Again, UAV coverage of the deck shows some cute little enemy out in the open. Note the deck earmarked for an arty barrage, a jet circling overhead, and a sniper on the ship itself. I have no idea how he got there safely. *applause*. Again, I am nuaing on shore in the tank. The one with the view cone.

Quaint little photo here of a base getting pounded by arty while a ring of armour waits outside. MMMmmmmmm…..

And the scorecard from the second round. I had barely enough time to chalk up anything and the match was nearly over. Note the disparity in ranks of the players on both teams.

Would suck to be them.

/been through it before.

Insane BF2 aircraft stunt

You’ll appreciate this more if you play the game. Watch it!!

Quake 3 running on 24 LCD monitors

Yup, you read that right. Some lucky swine got it all hooked up and running. From the website:

The system is driven by 12 linux servers (2 monitors per server) using Distributed Multihead X (DMX) and Chromium. Chromium distributes the OpenGL rendering from the head node to all of the servers. The game runs fairly fast, though some lighting effects had to be turned off and Chromium is having some trouble with the mouse.

It’s freakin’ awesome, though the inter-monitor spacing does throw things off a bit. Nevertheless, it’s some cool shit you should look at.

The AYDS Diet, and a kickass drawing

This company really picked a bad name for a product. This was from a time way back when the world was just starting to learn about AIDS…

“Question: Why take diet pills when you can enjoy AYDS? AYDS helps you lose weight safely and effectively. Use only as directed.”

*snort chortle snort*

Something else totally unrelated but nevertheless goddamn amazing:

Some guy drew this entirely in MS paint.

Do yourself a favour. Please look at it. Please.
