An anonymous poem posted on lampposts and bus stops near a murder site in the UK has proved invaluable in helping the local police track down the killer of a 32 year-old man.
The unusual literary work suggests a racially-motivated crime, and even goes as far as to name the killer (name replaced by XXX in the copy released by police.)
“Now I will show how a few words can be made
As sharp and deadly as any bwoy’s blade
How running away will not you save
The truth is there like an open grave
A defenceless man is dead and his blood’s gone cold
But the story of his end is going to be told
You can run and run till your shoes wear thin
And hope that you’re safe, ’cos of the colour of your skin
Paul Kelly lies dead, and who held the knife?
It was you, XXXXX, we all saw take his life.
“The New Year was but a short hour old
When you and your mates were: Oh, so bold.
You put us to shame,
But we did the same.
It was black on white, so it must be right
It was you who said: “He had it coming that night.”
Then you ran away and we turned our backs.
You said we would be next if we breathed a word
We took in your threats that now sound absurd
So we closed our eyes And took in your lies
“Now your filth lies burning inside us like poison and guile.
But soon all the s***’s gonna come out, so prepare for a trial.
So where will you run when, at last, you face a brave man?
You gonna run once more through the streets, all a quiver?
Will wash yourself down in the deep, deep river?
“Yow, young XXXX, where you threw the knife,
Listen to what I say and take good heed:
You can wipe your bloody hands in the grass, till they bleed . . .
But you will never, never get them clean.

Kevin Whitrick, 42, and father of 12-year-old twins was feeling depressed after a series of misfortunes in his life. One night, in front of about 50 people in an online chatroom, he announced plans to kill himself. Thinking he was play acting, some users egged him on, while others pleaded for him to stop.
By the time the police showed up at his door, Kevin was already dead.
The picture you will never see in the media.
This is purportedly from the video, though I have no way of being sure. It does look like him, however. (Link removed after my conscience spoke.)
Previous story about another Kevin who offed himself under similar circumstances
Another story of a death in a chatroom. This time accidental.

I’ll hear your voice
In every thought that flows through my mind
I’ll see your face
In every cloud that floats through my sky
And when the world is too much
and the hurt’s got me down on my knees to pray
I’ll hear your voice
and you won’t be so far away

I’d just want to be alone, on the snow, in the dark, staring at one of these as I fade away and die.

To combat drunk driving, some creative minds in Mumbai came up with these coasters which turn a bloody red when in contact with a moist mug of beer. Spooky, yet effective.

Came across this gem on YouTube. Please don’t ask about part 2, cos I simply can’t find it.
Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about this guy:
Brett Manning is an American singer and vocal coach noted for a self-proclaimed five-octave voice, which he alleges makes use of the high-range whistle register. He worked under the guidance of numerous vocal coaches until he met with vocal coach Seth Riggs, developer of the “Speech Level Singing” method of instruction.
…
Manning works with artists from Capitol Records, Columbia Records, Atlantic Records, Interscope Records, Dreamworks, Lyric Street Records, MCA, Sony Records, KMG, Word Records, Embassy Records, Gotee Records, and various independent record labels. He has worked with the casts of the Broadway productions of Les Miserables and Jekyll and Hyde, as well as the Broadway tour of Elton John’s Aida.
Manning now spends most of his time with private coaching for professional singers and aspiring artists within reach of his Nashville studio. Manning is most famous for producing “Singing Success”, a collection of CDs with basic to advanced exercises he uses in his lessons.

Taken during our recent teambuilding outing: The most flattering photo of Sentosa’s waters - ever.
It was a fun day, and going through all of that made me feel that somehow, I was back in Uni again.
I miss hall…

I can’t attest to all the flicks but they’ve got some real damn sad ones in there.
Armageddon was a top choice. Nothing quite like seeing 25 hockey players putting their hands over their faces at the same time to cover the tears. I’m getting weepy just thinking about it.
The sequence near the end of Big Fish where Billy Crudup FINALLY reconciles with his dad (Albert Finney) right as his father’s dying. He narrates his final story as if it were one of his father’s tall tales. The only reason my girlfriend at the time didn’t notice I was crying was because she was crying too.

One-man a cappella performance. Short, but oh-so-sweet… enjoy!
This makes me miss acap again. But not the carols, funnily enough.
