Tatarah rebooted
After a much-trumpeted launch coupled with an ad blitz a few weeks ago, Tatarah mysteriously went down - their front page replaced by an ugly HTML page informing visitors of “hardware issues”. Some time later, they announced that they would be cancelling all outstanding auctions, refunding the processing fee to all who had bidded.
The date now is 11 Nov 2007 and by midnight, Tatarah will once again resume operations - though with one major change. The much-hyped “unique lowest bid” auction model has now been replaced by a “highest unique bid” one.
What happened, Tatarah? Did you get loopholed into this? Did you not think this through long before your initial launch? Did you lose too much money the first time round? Did you make so much you figure you can make more if you change the model? Did you find yourself on the wrong end of some obscure gaming law? Did you receive nastygrams from certain parties unhappy with your pricing?
Answers, Tatarah, answers. Singapore wants to know.

Hi there
Greetings! My name is <removed for privacy> and I’m a journalist with The Straits Times Life! and LifeStyle section. I chanced upon your blog while doing some research on Tatarah and thought I’d drop you an e-mail.
I’m writing a feature on Tatarah (given the recent buzz it created by advertising heavily, closing abruptly and then changing its concept) and am hoping to get some netizens to comment on the good and bad of the site. I see that you’ve been quite vocal about some of Tatarah’s shortcomings and was wondering if you’d be willing to share some of your opinions with me for the story?
Do let me know if you are open to this? If so, I’ll need to do a quick phone interview by end of Thursday if possible to meet my deadline.
Call me at <removed for privacy>? Thank you very much!
Tatarah was down for more than 3 days when I visited…thereafter I didn’t visit. But I think its a kind of gambling/lucky draw dip. Its not free by the way. Have to PAY to bid.
Have you guys tried this website at <sneaky spam link removed > its quite similar to mocca/st701.
