Relaxing at night
Currently in a rather musical mood, so here’s sharing the joy.
Over the Rainbow
Ellens dritter Gesang (Ave Maria)

Ah… hearing this again nearly brought a tear to my eye. Back in 95/96 I loved this song to bits… Simply because it sounds hauntingly beautiful at night.
And 12 years on, I realize I still know the lyrics by heart…

If this is a hoax, the let me play my part in its spread. If it’s real, well…
We are a group of musicians who have downloaded newly leaked albums by popular artists, quickly recorded many subtle overdubs over the work, and then re-leaked it to the internet. We have done this for about three years now. We used all kinds of instruments with recording techniques that matched the audio quality of the album in question. We used a varied amount of re-leaking methods including but not limited to Soulseek, OiNK, The Pirate Bay, Limewire and zipped files hosted on sites like YouSendIt or Mediafire with links spread out on hundreds of message boards. Our turnaround time was usually very short so often our version of the artist’s album was online for download within hours of its original leak. If you illegally download music on the internet the chances that our work is in your collection is very, very likely! In fact, you might have a whole lot of us!

This is the only 5-star rated song in my library. Pity the guitar solo is cut short in the video, though - the original version kicks ass.
The sky was blonde like her
It was a day to take the child
Out back and shoot it.
I could have buried all my dead
Up in her cemetery head
She had dirty word witchcraft
I was in the deep end of her skin.
Then, it seemed like a one car wreck
But I knew it was a horrid tragedy.
Ways to make the tiny satisfaction disappear.
Blow out the candles
On all my Frankensteins.
At least my death wish will come true.
You taste like Valentine’s and
We cry,
You’re like a birthday.
I should have picked the photograph
It lasted longer than you.
Putting holes in happiness.
We’ll paint the future black
If it needs a color.
My death sentence is now a story
Who’ll be digging when you finally let me die?
Romance of our assassination
If you’re Bonnie, I’ll be your Clyde.
But the grass is greener here and
I can see all of your snakes.
You wear your ruins well
Please run away with me to hell.

Ooh… the memories. I’ve got this on repeat right now.
Ain’t it cool how some songs sound kickass all over again after some time?

…so says this review:
Britney Spears, “Blackout” (Jive Records): Just when it seemed safe to write off Britney Spears as a punch line only capable of entertaining people through tabloid escapades, she goes and gets all musically relevant on us.
“Blackout,” her first studio album in four years, is not only a very good album, it’s her best work ever - a triumph, with not a bad song to be found on the 12 tracks.
Granted, a Spears rave should be put in its proper context - it’s not like we’re talking Bob Dylan here. Spears is a lightweight singer who only flourishes when she has great songs and great producers to supplement her minimal vocal talent.
But when she has that help, she’s fierce. And she gets that boost on every single track on “Blackout,” a sizzling, well-crafted, electro-pop dancefest that should return her to pop’s elite.
…and this one, and this one and this one and this one…
I am now very intrigued. Must give it a listen when I get the chance.
